THE WHITESTONE COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS PARTY 2023

This party was probably the best party ever organised for the Whitestone community. All the usual Parish Hall decorations were augmented by balloons, bottled LED lights and seat covers with matching tablecloths. The disco was excellent with a range of music tracks to suit everybody. The volume level set to perfection and the colourful lighting added to the beauty of the setting.

We can only give our grateful thanks to the Parish Council for funding the party and to all the volunteers and members of the Whitestone Sports and Social Club who organised the evening, arranged the Hall and cleared up afterwards.

Just some of the many comments received:-

"Thank you Sports and Social Club for organising a wonderful evening. The disco was excellent!”

 "It was brilliant"

"What a great Christmas party at the Parish Hall this evening - such a range of ages there with music for everyone and lovely decorations. Thank you for all the hard work for a very successful event. Welldone all those who organised, prepared and ran the event."/p>

"What an fabulous evening, thanks to those that organised it. The hall looked fantastic. I haven’t enjoyed myself so much in a long time and been able to walk home"

THE QUEEN'S PLATINUM JUBILEE 2022
AT WHITESTONE PARISH HALL
4th June 2022

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee was celebrated over the weekend on Saturday 4th June 2022. The Whitestone Sports and Social Club (in conjunction with the Whitestone Parish Council) organised a Bring-your-Own Parish Picnic at the Parish Hall including a children’s ‘Royal Fancy Dress’ competition.

To commemorate the occasion, there was a presentation of a free Jubilee Mug for all the children who lived in the Parish of Whitestone and who were 16 years old or younger on 7th June 2022.

SOME COMMENTS ON THR CELEBRATIONS

Congratulations to the Sports and Social Committee for organising the Parish Picnic in the Parish Hall and to the Parish Council who funded the event on Jubilee Saturday. It was a memorable occasion and thoroughly enjoyed by a great many people.
There was an enormous beautifully decorated delicious cake donated by a resident of Whitestone and shared by everyone, a ‘royal’ fancy dress competition and commemorative mugs for the children living in the Parish of Whitestone.
Thank you to all those who contributed their time and efforts to enable such a happy event to take place.

What a wonderful afternoon we had celebrating the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the second on Saturday June 4th. It had poured with rain in the morning so the grass outside was wet and slippery – but that didn’t deter us. The organising Committee put out chairs and tables in the Hall and nearly all the residents of Whitestone flocked to the fun – so they kept having to put out more tables ! We ate our, and each others’, picnic lunches, drank all sorts of beverages and met people we hadn’t met before.
After lunch we all had a slice of a lovely cake presented to us by the Cakery of Exeter and then welcomed four royally costumed competitors in the Children’s Royal Fancy Dress parade. The winner was Sasha Elworthy in a remarkable construction of her own designing and the rest were all Runners Up. Thank-you to the Parish Council and the Sports and Fete Committee for organising this event and providing hot drinks and encouragement!

We had such a happy Parish Picnic on Jubilee Saturday and wanted to say 'thank you' to all those involved who gave so willingly of their time and efforts. Children's fancy dress costumes & mugs - what a clever and generous idea, teas, coffees, tables, washing-up, cleaning and general conviviality.
Wonderful.
